From October onwards the Power House in Detroit will be inhabited by painter Jan van der Ploeg.
Together with Design 99 Partizan Publik handpicked Jan from a fantastic selection of interested artists. Jan will be the third Dutch resident in this co-curated Detroit project after Guido Marsille and 2012 Architects.

As part of the research of our Gwangju Design Biennale contribution we visited the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. The museum put mainly the heroic tales of American industrial pioneering on display – we were especially interested in Ford’s Model T assembly line.
Besides meeting up with the Power House‘s second resident Guido Marsille and besides doing research at the libraries of the University of Michigan and Wayne State we have been working as roof carpenters under supervision on our co-curator Mitch Cope.
